Newcastle and Castlewellan area Councillor and Chairman of Castlewellan Regeneration Ltd Eamonn O’Neill has spoken out and welcomed the installation of an electric car charging point in the grounds of The Lodge, Castlewellan.
Councillor O’Neill said: “Following a great deal of effort by Castlewellan Regeneration Ltd, particularly xa0the two Officers Margaret and Kay, I am pleased that the idea of installing a car charge point in the grounds of the Lodge, Castlewellan has been realised.
“This is an excellent facility for the people of Castlewellan and one which is in a great location due to its accessibility.
“Electric vehicles are revolutionising the way people think about cars. With no tail-pipe CO2 emissions, the electric car is a step towards a more sustainable future. Pure electric vehicles use no petrol and no diesel. With fuel costs being a cause of concern to many, the switch to electric vehicles is becoming more appealing.
“I am very pleased as Chairman of Castlewellan Regeneration Ltd to have overseen this move, as it is a step towards a greener future. Castlewellan is yet again moving with the times.”
