DOWN District Policing and Community Safety Partnership (PCSP) chairman, Councillor Willie Clarke is delighted to announce that the PCSP have agreed to roll out a small action plan in the Burren Meadow Estate. Councillor Clarke emphasised that a partnership approach is key in ensuring this action plan has a positive impact for the residents of Burren Meadow.
Representatives from the PCSP, County Down Rural Community Network (CDRCN), PSNI and APEX met with residents from Burren Meadow Estate, Newcastle recently to discuss on going community safety concerns. This meeting gave residents the opportunity to address agencies with their safety concerns and provide the opportunity to devise practical solutions to these problems.
APEX Manager Jacqui Gilmore stressed the importance of residents reporting any anti-social behaviour concerns and that APEX are committed to making Burren Meadow Estate a safe place to live.
Following a brainstorming session with residents it was agreed this Action Plan will start with a community safety fun day at Bryansford GAC on Saturday 17 August 2013 between 1-4pm.
Paula Nixon, Community Development Worker for the County Down Rural Community Network (CDRCN) highlighted that a community association has been set up in Burren Meadow and she is looking forward to working with residents in this area.
Following the meeting Narene Skeffington, Senior Youth Worker, East Down Rural Project advised Mourne Youth Council is already in place in Newcastle and will be delighted to welcome young people from the Burren Meadow estate and is delighted to be involved in the action plan.
