Responses to the Irish Language and Ulster Scots Public Consultations Published

Culture, Arts and Leisure Minister Carál Ní Chuilín has today (Wednesday 3 July) published a summary of responses to the public consultations on the draft strategies for the Irish Language and Ulster Scots. The public consultations on both strategies took place between 11 July and 27 November 2012. Two hundred and seventy four responses were received on the Draft Strategy for Protecting and Enhancing the development of the Irish Language. One hundred and thirty nine responses were received on the Draft Strategy for Ulster Scots Language, Heritage and Culture.dn_screen Welcoming the publication of the summary of responses, the Minister said:xa0“This was a worthwhile and meaningful consultation process which was very well received by all sections of the community. “These summary reports set out the main issues and themes identified by the respondents. My intention was to find out what people would like to see included in the two strategies without any constraints being applied. “Both strategies are commitments in the Executive’s agreed Programme for Government 2011-15 and are a key aspect of delivering against the Executive’s Priority 4 – Building a Strong and Shared Community.” 1.xa0The summaries of responses are available as follows:
