Job Duties:
This is an opportunity expected to last for 6-9 months initially on this Youth Employment Service Scheme. Participants are expected to attend 35 hours per week, excluding meal breaks – this includes time spent on training (150 taught hours in a formal course or courses during the work scheme).
To make the most of this opportunity you should:
* have a further education diploma or equivalent, a qualification in Journalism, or a Third Level qualification (or xa0other higher level qualification preferably in sports) – the trainee has the option to focus on sports and/or news.
* be computer literate
* have good writing skills and good personal people skills
* have a driving licence
Qualifications / Experience:
Participants will gain experience in the following occupational skills: * writing news and sports articles including features * working on internet news * interviewing skills * visiting events and news gathering * recording information *xa0interviewing techniques * professional etiquette * using Internet-based technologAt the end of this programme you will be experienced and confident to move towards a vocational qualification in Journalism.
The skills development programme is aimed at unemployed 18-24 year olds. Participants will retain their benefit rate plus a £45 a week top-up to create a benefit based training allowance. Some travel and child care costs may be reimbursed.
