Fun Day at Downpatrick Cricket Club

THERE was a Fun Day Festival at Downpatrick Cricket Club on Sunday 30 June.

This event was one of the ‘Four Seasonal Events’ to be held by Downpatrick Cricket Club for the local communities of County Down with a huge amount of interest that was shown and the little faces with so much joy from the bouncy castles, face painters, walking on water, pony rides and horse’n’cart etc. A Club spokesperson said: “this was truly a great day. Downpatrick Cricket Club would like to thank all that took part in this event and hope for the next three to be as such a success and better.

“We at Downpatrick Cricket Club pride ourselves in running events like this for all of the Communities of Down, and we are also delighted for Down District Council under the Community festivals Sponsorship Scheme to be onboard with funding and support.

“Councillor Gareth Sharvin was very welcome in attending the event and certainly got into the swing of things and enjoyed himself. The event is for the peopleof all ages but especially the kids. Just a little something we pride ourselves in giving back to the Community. xa0There will be three further events,xa0Sundayxa0late Bank Holiday August,xa08 December – Christmas Winter Special and the Spring St Patrick’s Day Bonanza.”

Down District Council Vice-Chairman Councillor Gareth Sharvin said at the event: “Down District Council are pleased to support this specialist event under the Community Festivals Sponsorship Scheme. This is the first year of this event and the aim is to build on this event every year. Each event in our District builds on our profile as hosting quality family fun days and I hope that this event will help promote more events in Downpatrick and across our district.

“I am delighted to be here and experience many of the activities offered. The facilities that Downpatrick Cricket Club offers to our district are invaluable and this is shown with the large number of activities on offer today, such as the pony rides, bouncy castles and balloon modelling. This is the first of four events in the coming year and it gives a taste of things to come for everyone in the community.”
