Vocational training plays a vital role in preparing people for the work environment through hands-on learning, offering local employers with appropriately skilled and trained people who can drive the UK economy forward; a great way to showcase how high level VQs contribute to learners, businesses and society. For anyone considering a new career path, part-time professional cookery student Annette Grant is a great inspiration. The 39-year old from Ballymartin, is currently retraining from a registered childminder to a chef! Annette Retrains Annette said: xa0″I always wanted to be a chef and have come to SERC for a career change. I love the hands-on approach to learning and the flexibility that part-time study offers.’ Although I was busy working, the work involved with my courses was quite manageable.”
