Join the Meeting for the Safe Place Initiative on Domestic Violence

IF you run a business in the Co Down area, xa0you may not be aware that domestic abuse is a serious and widespread problem in Northern Ireland, with one in four women and one in nine men experiencing some form of abuse.

County Down Rural Community Network Manager Nicholas McCrickard said: “We are keen to support managers in assisting their staff or local community to access appropriate services to promote their safety and well-being.

“The CDRCN want people living, working and doing business in the Down area, to know that support is available for victims of domestic abuse.dn_screen

“To this end CDRCN has signed up to the Safe Place Initiative which was developed by ONUS, a social economy business working to support victims of domestic abuse. The Safe Place logo indicates that information on services for victims of domestic abuse is available on the premises. Signing up to the Safe Place Scheme does not mean that organisations have to do anything beyond signposting people to the appropriate services.

“If you wish to hear more about this initiative and about the support services available in the Down area, thexa0South Eastern Domestic Violence Partnership in conjunction with Down District Policing and Community Safety Partnership and County Down Rural Community Network is holding a Domestic Violence awareness and information session in thexa0Ballymote Centre for people in the community and business.

“We believe this initiative will make a big difference to the lives of those affected by domestic abuse in our area.”

The venue for the meeting is at the Ballymote Centre, Killough Road, Downpatrick, from 7.30-8.30pm on Thursday 4xa0July.xa0Light refreshments will be provided.
