Councillor O’Neill said: xa0“Following on from the excellent work that is taking place in Castlewellan Forest Park in the development of the mountain bike trails due to be officially opened in the coming weeks, xa0I am calling for a cycle lane along the main Castlewellan to Newcastle roadway. “This route already has the advantageous asset of having wide verges on both sides of the road which would allow for the creation of cycle tracks. “Such a route would allow Newcastle to share in the success which these trails are set to bring to the area in terms of visitor spending. “I have made representations to Sustrans, Roads Service and Down District Council in this regard.”
