Police Warn Garages of Fuel Thieves On The Prowl

POLICE in C District are advising Filling Station managers and sellers of fuel to make sure their stock is well protected and caged off.xa0xa0

The advice follows three burglaries at garage forecourts and supermarkets in the Down area overnight from Friday 12 April into Saturday morning 13 April.xa0dn_screen

The first theft occurred in thexa0Newcastlexa0road area when thieves broke into mesh cages in a garage forecourt and removed drums of heating oil and red diesel.xa0xa0The second occurred at a local supermarket in thexa0Main Streetxa0area of Clough when four oil drums were taken from a locked coal bunker.xa0xa0And finally in thexa0Dublinxa0road area of Castlewellan thieves removed drums containing diesel from a second local supermarket.

A link between all three incidents is being investigated and police would like to speak to the owner of an old style silver coloured Ford Mondeo that was seen in the area.
