Ruane Questions Delay in Narrow Water Bridge Development

Sinn Féin’s Caitriona Ruane MLA is demanding a bridge order is processed for the Narrow Water Bridge.[/caption] Ms. Ruane said:xa0“The Narrow Water Bridge was granted Interreg IV funding status on the 25xa0October 2012 and the next step was the granting of the Bridge Order on both sides of the border. “It has come to my attention that while the order was granted almost immediately in the South the process is yet to begin in the North. “I am extremely concerned that this basic step has yet to be taken in regards to the project and I have written to the Minister Danny Kennedy demanding a meeting to find out why it has not happened as I believe it is more than a basic oversight. “The granting of a Bridge Order is a fundamental step in processing the construction of any bridge and I will be asking why it wasn’t carried out and who was responsible as the entire project could be put back as this step has not yet been taken. “I am determined that this project will not be relegated to second class status due to the fact that it is a cross border project and will not allow prejudices to threaten its very existence. “This is a major infrastructural project that will not only create hundreds of construction jobs but open the entire region up to tourism and inward investment.”]]>
