NSPCC Northern Ireland head of service welcomes renewed inquiry intoxa0investigating historical institutional child abuse in Northern Ireland
Neil Anderson, head of NSPCC services for Northern Ireland, has welcomed the renewed inquiry into investigating historical institutional child abuse in Northern Ireland.
He said: “As cases such as Jimmy Saville show, individuals find it very difficult to come forward and talk about their experiences,xa0therefore I welcome the inquiry and the opportunity it is giving to victims to talk in a private and supportive environment. “I think that the 175 people who have applied to the inquiry are the tip of the iceberg, and as the awareness of the inquiry grows we would expect more victims to come forward. “I would urge anyone who may be anxious about recounting their experiences to make contact, whether to the inquiry team, or to our helpline on 0808 800 5000, where you will be listened to and will get thexa0advice and support you need to take your experiences forward.”]]>
