Ards Tourist Information Centre has been named as one of the first ‘WorldHost’ businesses in Northern Ireland. The accreditation comes after all the Centre’s tourism advisors successfully completed a Northern Ireland Tourist Board training programme,xa0focusing on the principles of customer service, thexa0skills and techniques that form the fundamentals of service professionalism and specific ‘ambassador’ training, equipping staff with the resources to interact and assist visitors to Northern Ireland. The Tourist Information Centre is an Ards Borough Council facility and Mayor of Ards, Alderman Hamilton Gregory, said: “Our Tourist Information Centre and staff are no strangers to awards for their customer service excellence, but this accreditation is formal recognition of the standard of service they deliver every day to visitors. I’m delighted for the staff, but ultimately it will be our visitors and tourism sector which benefit from well-trained, knowledgeable, accommodating and courteous tourism advisors. I would also encourage local people to call in and take advantage of the staff’s expertise and advice on fresh ideas of what to do and where to go in 2013”.
