SOUTH Down MLA Caitriona Ruane has flagged up that this Saturday 24 November is the last day anyone meeting the qualifying criteria can apply to have a HD Freeview Box fitted under the Digital Switchover Help Scheme.
Ms. Ruane said: “Over the last week, Sinn Féin has been made aware that some people although meeting the eligibility criteria, had still not applied to have a HD Freeview Box fitted as part of the Digital Switchover Scheme.
“I would just like to make everyone aware that Saturday 24th November is the very last day people can apply under the Scheme and can do so by calling the Free-phone Number (from a landline): 0800 40 85 900.
“We are also getting quite a few complaints from people in relation to problems they are encountering with the reception they are getting, and particularly with their RTE channels, so I would advise anyone with digital TV equipment supplied through the Switchover Help Scheme that they are entitled to help and advice through the Scheme’s ‘Aftercare Service’ for 12 months after they receive their equipment and can access this by ringing the same Free-phone number.
“People who have had to pay £40 for the installation of their Freeview box, and who are also experiencing similar reception problems, should be aware that they are also entitled to the same 12 month ‘Aftercare Service’ and should access this by contacting the retailer or installer from which the box was purchased.”
