Lewis Concerned at Number GP Appointments Missed

DOWN District UKIP representitive Alan Lewis is concerned over the high number of missed appointments in GP surgeries.

He said: “Missed local surgery appointments where as high as 37 a week in one local practice and added “I understand that people sometimes have a sick child or relative and want an appointment but by the time the appointment is due the health problem has resolved and people forget to attend their appoint.

“But I would sincerely appeal to people xa0to try and remember to cancel their appointment if it is no longer needed as there are always people who need to see their doctor quite urgently.

“We are living in difficult times with GP budgets being cut and we will all have to work together as a community to make sure that the precious National Health Service resources we have are used to the maximum benefit of all our people.”
