O’Neill Warms Up to Electricity Price Cuts

NEWCASTLE xa0SDLP Councillor Eamonn ONeill has spoken out following news that Airtricity is set to cut its electricity tariff by 14.1 per cent from October.

Councillor O’Neill said: xa0“I welcome Airtricity’s decision to cut the price of its electricity.xa0xa0This equals the cut that Power NI announced in August and will be an annual saving of £83 to a family here in the North of Ireland.

“So Many local families in the area are having serious difficulties making ends meet.xa0Household bills in general are on the up so to hear that electricity is going down is very welcome.

“However, to put things into context, Power NI had increased their tariffs by 18 per cent xa0last year so in actual fact we will stay be paying more than what we were last year.“
