McGrath Backs Alzheimer’s Day

DOWN District SDLP Councillor and the party’s local health spokesperson, Colin McGrath has spoken out in support of World Alzheimer’s Day.

Councillor McGrath said: “The 21 September 2012 marked World Alzheimer’s Day and is the first day of a three month campaign by the Government to raise awareness of dementia.

“Every year since 1994 Alzheimer organizations have observed World Alzheimer’s Day and the day will continue to play an important and key role during the World Alzheimer’s Month.

“Named after neurologist Alois Alzheimer, xa0the disease causes progressive damage on the brain. The theme for World Alzheimer’s Month 2012 is ‘Dementia: Living together’. u2028u2028Any such bid by the Government to raise awareness of the illness which could lead to even one earlier diagnosis gets my full support”
