The legendary Tommy Sands is to play at Down Arts Centre

Tommy Sands,xa0Countyxa0Down’s renowned world singer, songwriter and social activist, has achieved something akin to legendary status in his own lifetime.

From the pioneering tours with the highly influential Sands Family, playing Carnegie Hall toxa0Moscow’s Olympic Stadium, he has become one ofxa0Ireland’s most powerful songwriters and enchanting performers.

With a new album and more concert dates than ever, Tommy now tours with two startlingly capable young musicians – son Fionan and daughter Moya. With Tommy on vocals/guitar, Moya on fiddle/vocals/bodhran/whistle, and Fionan on mandolin/banjo, the sound is livelier than ever.

TV Presenterxa0and Broadcasterxa0Hardeep Singh Kohlixa0knows a thing or two about good food.xa0xa0He wasxa0 runner-up on the first series ofxa0Celebrity Masterchefxa0which led to two series for UKTV Food.

His first bookxa0Indian Takeawayxa0was nominated for an Independent Book Award and he has written about food for Olive, Observer Food Monthly, The Spectator, The Times andxa0The Sunday Timesxa0amongst others.

At the beginning ofxa0thexa0showxa0Hardeep will order a takeaway live on stage for delivery to the Down Arts Centre, having selected a local Indian takeaway from audience suggestions submitted viaxa0HardeepLive.com.

He will then order an audience member’s favourite meal. Whilst waiting for the order to arrive Hardeep cooks his own food.
