Fly Me to the Moon Bound for Newcastle

JUST WHEN YOU THOUGHT IT WAS ALL OVER…

The annual Newcastle Summer Season programme is extending its run by one night only to accommodate an extra performance of the hit Marie Jones play, Fly Me to the Moon at 8pm on Friday 31 August.

The play has enjoyed rave reviews and full houses since opening at the Grand Opera House, Baby Grand at the end of January this year. It opened the Summer Season in Newcastle on 6 July to a capacity crowd, and is now back by popular demand.

The play tells the story of Francis and Loretta, two community care visitors. Unknown to him, Davy, one of their elderly charges, has had a significant win on the horses. When the cash-strapped women learn that Davy will not be around for a considerable time they are faced with a mouth-watering dilemma.

Martin Lynch, who produced the show, commented: “We have been overwhelmed by the audience reaction to this show and we are delighted that we can offer people the chance to see it. Marie has done a wonderful job, not just in writing the play, but also in the direction. We think that taking the play on a Northern Irish tour is the right thing to do. I think it could be as big as Marie’s other hits, Stones in His Pockets and Women on the Verge of HRT.”

So far, it certainly seems to be living up to all Martin’s expectations. Tickets are already selling fast so book early to avoid disappointment!

To purchase tickets (£15 / £12) and for further information please contact Down Arts Centre box office on 028 4461 0747 or visit the Newcastle Tourist Information Centre, Central Promenade, Newcastle.
