Saintfield Horse Show Beckons the Big Crowds

THE organisers of the Saintfield Horse Show are now at the final stages of preparing what will be another bumper horse show.

Downpatrick Race Course is once again to sponsor the very popularxa0Race Horse to Riding Horse Class at the show on Saturday 1 September 2012.

Show Director Joan Cunningham met up this week with Downpatrick Race Course Directors Adele Rea andxa0Leslie Crawford along withxa0Race Course Manager Richard Lyttle to discuss finalxa0details. Joan Cunningham said: “We are delighted that Downpatrick Race Course have agreed the Sponsorship and our sincere thanks to them.”

Richard Lyttle, Downpatrickxa0Race Course Manager, said: “We are very happy xa0to be involved with Saintfield Horse Show. I am very much looking forward to being at the Show myself. xa0It’s a great family day out and the atmosphere is terrific.”

Entries have been pouring in for the Saintfield Horse Show Donkey Derby from some of Northern Ireland’s leading business men and top Race Horse Trainers. Fantastic changes have been made to this years Derby explained Joan Cunningham.

The Sponsor of the winning donkey will receive £1,000 for the charity of theirxa0choice, while the owner of the winning donkey will receive a cash prize of £150 andxa02nd.£60. There will be four or five races before the final with five Donkeys in each race.

A bottle of Powers Whiskey will be presented to the owner of the winning donkey in each race kindly donated by Dillon Bass. And xa0there will also be a second and third prize.xa0A special award will be presented to the best turned out Donkeyxa0in each race. The winners from each race will go through to the grand final.

“All jockeys will need to be turned out in racing silks, skull caps etc. If you have any problem getting silks please get in touch with me or if you have a suitable donkey but no jockey again get in touch asxa0that can also be arranged. Please book your entry in advance as a race card is being prepared and must be with the printer by Wednesday 29 xa0August.”
