MAINSTAY DRP are calling for you to get on your bike… lietrally.
They are fundraising for a dream cause and with a bit of pedal and push anyone who want to join in their next overseas cycling adventure to raise funds is very welcome.
Jim Mulholland, said: “For the past 20 years, the Mainstay DRP charity based in Downpatrick has developed a range of services to improve the quality of life of people who have a learning disability throughout the Down district, stretching from Newcastle to Ballynahinch, from Ardglass to Saintfield.
“We have now purchased a site on the Killough Road on which we plan to build a new centre for day care, residential and respite care services. It is centre purpose designed and built to meet the needs and demands of adults with learning disabilities as they get older, and to support their families.
“To make this happen, we have embarked on an ambitious Fundraising Campaign – Buy a Brick Build a Home for Life – and as part of this challenge, we are planning an exciting and exhilarating cycle around the glorious island of Majorca… so get your sun tan cream looked out and your shorts and sun glasses.
“This trip promises to be an opportunity of a lifetime to experience the breathtaking beauty of one of the world’s most spectacular places. Our cyclists who took part in the Egyptian cycle and the Mizen to Malin cycle run had the time of their lives and are already signing up for the Majorcan cycle.
“This is a unique and amazing cycle challenge through the coastal road, mountains and along the richly cultivated country side of this dream island. The trip is shaping up to be a real challenge and a great adventure.
“For just £1500 sponsorship you can help us achieve our dream and live a dream of your own. All your costs will be covered if you reach your fundraising target including a stay in a 4-star hotel.
“If you are not able to take part in the cycle but are interested in supporting us through sponsorship or in another way in support, we would be delighted to hear from you.”
The fundraising has already reached half way but there is still a long road to travel on to reach their goal of £3 million to complete the twenty first century purpose built centre.
