And to make sure that all the cowboys and cowgirls were well fuelled up, free cowboy suppers were on had with chips, bangers and beans which went down a treat. Later on in the evening entertainer and singer Stuart Willcox sang a few C&W numbers to get the crowd going. On the night, there were six free £50 cash prizes up for grabs on top of the usual big prizes put up by the Bingo Magic Group that runs Carousel. Manager Maurice Massey said, “Tonight has been a great success. The seats were filling up very early and that is a sign that this Western night has gone down a treat. We must try this again sometime. Everyone really enjoyed Start Willcox’s music and craic and it was great to see Carol Rooney making a great effort to brighten up the evening with her Western theme of a cowboy of a horse… just brilliant. Even the staff enjoyed the craic.” Who would think that right in the middle of Downpatrick above the shops that there would be a social hub called Carousel tucked away where dozens of people can quietly pass the time of day and have a bit of fun… and maybe win a few pounds along the way.
