Ritchie Addresses Engineering Conference

presented by the current economic downturn. Speaking at the conference in the Waterfront Hall where engineers from 48 countries were represented, Ms Ritchie said, “The theme of this year’s conference ‘Engineering Sustainability for a Global Economy’ is well chosen and fits well with what peoples from all nations all over the world are striving to embrace and achieve. I saw at first hand the benefits of working together and of gaining knowledge in the whole field of housing when I   served as Minister for Social Development here in Northern Ireland for three years. “There is no doubt that information gained from people across the world can better inform government policy and ensure better outcomes for local people across a range of disciplines. “Vitally important is the need to tackle the challenges presented by the current economic downturn, particularly the high levels of unemployment here, and information shared at these kinds of events undoubtedly brings us one step closer to achieving this objective.”]]>
