The ‘big’ game will follow at 12.00 noon… an event not to be missed! “The concept for the Ballymote Hall was started and developed by the local community.  A further host of statutory agencies, including the Down District Council, were brought on board by the area and the project was further developed through the neighbourhood renewal strategy. A spectacular arena to host this dynamic sport which is well known for its ball handling skills and fitness regime – skills which can be adopted by any person over the age of 8 years regardless of ability. Down basketball will be on its way to the former glory days of the 70’s. “The possibility of a surprise result is not out of the question as there are a few foreign nationals playing who have previously played at the top level in Poland and Lithuania. Basketball is a game with no perceived sectarian baggage. No matter where you go in the world you will always see a basketball hoop,” added Geraldine. ]]>
