SERC Student Erin Wins Hairdressing Competition

During the competition the students were required to come up with a whole look for a model including, hair, make-up and clothing and footwear.xa0 Traditional hairdressing competitions are judged solely on hairstyle but this competition was designed to challenge the students to think beyond a hairstyle and consider a person’s whole appearance picking cloths, shoes and make-up to match their hairstyle. Also pictured is Erin'x80x99s model."][/caption] The competition was judged by top Northern Irish hairstylist Jimmy Beech of Wella and Synergy Hair, along with Pamela Ferguson, Assistant Head of School for Hairdressing and Beauty Therapy at SERC. Before the competition began Jimmy gave the students some hints and tips on how to approach the competition, calling upon his years of industry experience. Pamela said, “The students worked very hard throughout the year learning new styling techniques and the competition was a nice way to finish the year and let the students showcase their skills whilst competing against their peers in a fun environment. “The standard of the competition was extremely high and as a judge I had a very difficult job trying to pick a winner.xa0 I would like to congratulate everyone who took part, I am sure that it has proved a valuable experience for everyone who took part. I would also like to thank Jimmy for helping with the judging and for passing on some of his knowledge to the students.”]]>
