It will xa0xa0radically demythologise this allegedly most esoteric of art forms. And it will explain, with copious examples, why Opera is so active and healthy today. Student nights at the Opera will also be factored into the work of the course. Opera for the Terr!f!ed has been designed to cater for both opera virgins and opera veterans, whether as audience or as performers. It will stress the improved ease of access to and the emotional and intellectual rewards to be taken home from a night at the opera. *Callas: La Diva Divina The professional singing career of Maria Callas, whose electrifying stage presence is the standard by which all other divas are measured, lastedxa0xa0 eighteen years. Her iconic status went far beyond her opera house career and her influence on opera in performance today is immeasurable. This intensely illustrated course will explore – critically but honestly – the personal pain and heartbreak that suffused the roles she chose to sing.
