DOWN CAMOGIE NEWS. * xa0 Hurls, Helmets, Heroes and Handbags – the Down Camogie Board are hosting a fundraising night at the luxurious Slieve Donard Hotel on Sunday 29th May 2011 (Bank Holiday weekend).xa0 The night is entitled “Hurls, Helmets, Heroes and Handbags – an Abba Tribute”. xa0It is billed as “The Biggest Camogie Party Ever” and features live Abba Tribute Band – Swede Dreamz. The ticket charge of only £10 entitles purchasers admission to the event plus individual chances to win one of 3 celebrity hurls, celebrity helmets or celebrity handbags – great value for money. xa0It is also hoped that guests of honour, the Down All-Ireland U-16 Camogie Champions will be in attendance. xa0Admission is strictly by ticket only which can be had from any Down Camogie Club or Slieve Donard Hotel. xa0Doors open 8.30 pm.xa0 See you there! * xa0Down Poc Fada will take place on Saturday 28th May 2011.xa0 The venue for the competition will be the beach at Murlough just outside Newcastle.xa0 Registration will be in the National Trust Car park at 11.30am.xa0 The categories are as follows:xa0 Hurling – Senior, Under-16, Veteran (over 35) and Camogie – Senior, Under-16, Veteran (over 35). xa0Anyone wishing to participate on the day MUST have a spotter with him or her. xa0Anyone without a spotter will not be able to compete.xa0 The course will be on the beach and whatever that may entail so be prepared! xa0Rules will be given out on the day.xa0 The Down Poc Fada winners will take part in Ulster.xa0 If you have any queries please contact Michael McCullough, Regional Hurling Development Officer, 0791 871 9794. * xa0Down U-14 Camogie Development Squad – there will be a Down U-14 Camogie Development Squad Registration and ‘Meet the Management’ night on Thursday 26th May 2011 at 7pm in Castlewellan GAA Clubrooms.xa0 All U-14 Camogs interested in being on the development squad are welcome to attend.xa0 The trials will be held in June (dates and venues to be confirmed).xa0 If you have any queries please contact the Down County Teams Chairperson, Liz McGivern, at [email protected].]]>
