The Seniors are now training on Monday’s and Wednesday’s and they are now looking forward to their first league fixture which will be on 15th April away to Banbridge. They played a friendly on Friday night against The Moy from Tyrone. This was a very entertaining encounter which the Hoops won by 3 points. Two of our minor players, John Polly and Anthony Doherty, stole the show with outstanding performances. Both lads showed a maturity beyond their years, and have a great future ahead of them! There were also some very strong performances from Sean Bell, Joe Starkey, and Peter Turley. Under-14 football training continues on Saturdays at 3.00pm, and this week they will play a friendly against Kilclief on Wednesday evening. Players should all meet at the Club at 6 O’clock. The U-16’s suffered a disappointing defeat on Sunday against Bryansford. In a very promising first half, some great play and movement led to some great scores, and a half time lead of 2 points. However, four early conceded goals in the first few minutes of the second half turned the game on its head, and eventually they were beaten by 12 points. This was a good Bryansford team and the lads should take some heart from all the positive aspects of this performance. Training times will remain unchanged. Congratulations to Jonathan Deeny and Conor McGrady who have both made it on to the All County U-16 Development Squad. On the same note, congratulations to Declan Turley and Ryan Slavin who have made it on to the County Minor Squad. Training for the Under 8’s and Under 10’s continued on Saturday morning and they were joined this week by the Primary ones and twos. The U-10s hosted Bredagh and played three friendly matches, with everyone getting a meaningful amount of match time. They all played their hearts out and managed to win all three games. The RGU Cultural Section are organising a play for October 15th. A Night With George is a very popular play and has been received with great acclaim by all the pundits in the business. This is very early to make the announcement, but it is definitely worth putting a note in your diary because it is one not to be missed. Everyone in the Club would like to offer their best wishes to our NO 1 supporter Pat Morgan, who is very ill in hospital at the moment. We all hope he makes a speedy recovery.
