Ms Ritchie said, “I have contacted NI Water urging them to get the supply restored as soon as possible as residents in the greater Kilkeel area are extremely concerned that their water, firstly, has been cut off and secondly, that it seems unlikely to be turned on again by the noon deadline. “As well as homes in this rural area, a local primary school has also been affected, making conditions extremely difficult for staff and pupils, particularly in terms of sanitation. “The water crisis in this area over the Christmas period and now this burst mains pipe are symptomatic of the ageing water system that we have here in South Down. The SDLP have arranged a meeting with the Chief Executive of NI Water to discuss the need for realistic plans to improve the water infrastructure in our area.”]]>
