Re-Gen Appoints A General Manager

Re-Gen appoints general manager to strengthen its operations team

The Newry-based recycling business Re-Gen employs more than 400 people across its two sites and has now appointed a general manager.

Re-Gen has appointed experienced operations leader, Kieran McPolin, as its first MSW (Municipal Solid Waste) General Manager.

Bringing more than 25 years’ experience in operational leadership and management across manufacturing, FMCG, and the agri-food sector, Kieran will oversee Re-Gen’s MSW operation. His primary focuses will be on operational efficiency, health and safety, productivity, compliance, people development and continuous improvement.

Most recently, Kieran was Site Operations Manager with Rosderra Irish Meats, where he was responsible for site operations and improving health and safety, compliance, processes, and team development.

Kieran McPolin, the recently appointed General Manager of Re-Gen.

Prior to that, he spent more than eight years as Head of Operations with Devenish Nutrition, with responsibility to lead two sites and deliver major capital projects. He also brings more than 17 years of management experience from Fane Valley and Moy Park, where he built his strong foundation in manufacturing and large-scale team leadership.

Kieran will work closely with Re-Gen’s Chief Operating Officer, Tony Demaine, and the wider management team to enhance day-to-day operations and meet the strategic objectives of the business.

Tony said: “Kieran’s extensive experience across a range of industries, combined with his strong track record in operational leadership, is a valuable addition to our management team.

“As the business continues to grow and develop, Kieran will play an important role in strengthening our MSW operation, supporting our people and driving continued improvements across safety, efficiency and performance.”

Based in Newry, Re-Gen now employs more than 400 people across two sites. As one of Europe’s most technologically advanced recycling companies, its facility combines artificial intelligence, robotics, and advanced optical sorting technology to recover recyclable materials from domestic refuse.

In recent years, Re-Gen has committed £30m into innovative carbon emission reduction technology, with plans to invest another £50m by 2030. Behind the business’s success is its continued investment in people, processes, and technology, as part of its ongoing growth and development.

Commenting on his appointment, Kieran said: “This is an exciting time to join Re-Gen. I look forward to working with the team, getting to know the operation, and contributing to its development and growth.

“This is an exciting business – one that understands the importance of investment in people and innovation.

“My expertise across safety, efficiency, people management, and performance can drive operational excellence to strengthen our market position and ultimately ensure that Re-Gen continues to deliver a positive environmental impact.”

Last year, Deloitte announced Re-Gen as one of its Best Managed Companies, awarding it a coveted Gold Award for its resilience, innovation, and team culture.

Alongside supporting its employees, Re-Gen is also committed to good causes, donating £1 million to charities to date.
