Andrew McMurray MLA has expressed concern at the potential removal of maternity services from Daisy Hill.

The South Down MLA said: “I am very concerned at the suggestion that maternity services could be withdrawn from Daisy Hill and moved to Craigavon Area Hospital.

“This is what service collapse looks like – it is not an example of transformation.

“Alliance is 100% supportive of safe consultant-led maternity services at Daisy Hill and we will work to ensure that this vital service remains available there.

“My colleague Cllr Helena Young and I attended the public meeting organised by SOS Daisy Hill and have noted the concerns raised there.

“We have also been contacted by several constituents directly affected by the potential move, who relayed grave safety concerns.

“We will continue to work with the Trust, Trade Unions and service users to ensure concerns are addressed and the rationale for any changes is fully communicated to everyone affected.”
