SuperValu Downpatrick To Mark 30th With Family Fun Day

SuperValu to celebrate major 30–year milestone in Downpatrick

SuperValu, and sister brand Centra, are celebrating 30 years in Northern Ireland, marking a significant milestone for two of the region’s best-known retail brands.

To mark the occasion, SuperValu Downpatrick, one of the first SuperValu stores to open in Northern Ireland, will host a special family fun day on Thursday 17th September from 1pm to 4pm.

Radio presenter Pete Snodden will lead an afternoon of celebrations featuring a Spin and Win wheel, prizes, goodie bags, birthday cake, face painting and a live DJ, as the store thanks local customers for three decades of support.

The anniversary forms part of a wider month-long celebration by Musgrave NI-owned brands SuperValu and Centra, recognising the retail partners, colleagues and customers who have been at the heart of their success since arriving in Northern Ireland in 1996.

On Thursday 17th September, SuperValu Downpatrick will be celebrating its 30th anniversary with family events.

To thank shoppers for their loyalty, the brands are also launching a special ’30 Years, 30 Chances, £30k’ giveaway. From 14th September, customers will have the chance to win £1,000 every day for 30 days, with winners selected at random at store tills across Northern Ireland.

Oliver Martin, Head of Company Owned Stores at Musgrave NI, said: “We are delighted to celebrate 30 years of SuperValu and Centra in Northern Ireland and there’s no better place to mark the occasion than SuperValu Downpatrick, one of the stores that has been part of the journey from the very beginning.

“For three decades, SuperValu and Centra have supported local communities, championed local suppliers and producers, created employment opportunities and provided great value and service to customers across Northern Ireland.

“This milestone belongs to the customers, colleagues and retail partners who have helped make that possible. We look forward to welcoming the local community to what promises to be a fantastic afternoon of celebrations.”

Elaine Sharvin, Store Manager at SuperValu Downpatrick, added: “For 30 years, this store has been at the heart of the Ballymote and Downpatrick community, serving generations of local families.

“Some of our colleagues have dedicated a significant part of their careers to this store, with four team members having more than ten years’ service each, and a combined 96 years between them.

“Their commitment, combined with the loyalty of our customers, is what makes this anniversary so special.

“We’re proud of the role the store has played in the community over the years and we’re looking forward to celebrating this milestone with everyone who has supported us along the way.”
