GAA is outgrowing facilities across council area says Campbell
GAA facilities across the SouthDown area arenot meeting demand for the sport says Sinn Féin Downpatrick Councillor Philip Campbell.
Cllr Campbell has tabled a motion calling for a review of Council owned facilities to help meet growing demand forCllr Gaelic Games across the Newry Mourne and Down district.
The Downpatrick councillor said: “Our GAA clubs are thriving, and they’re outgrowing the facilities we currently have.
“Participation in Gaelic Games is growing right across County Down, with more young people, families, and volunteers getting involved than ever before.
“Our clubs are doing incredible work in our communities, but many are coming under pressure as that growth creates real demand for facilities.
“That’s why I’ve tabled a motion calling for a review of Council owned facilities, to help meet the growth of Gaelic Games across Newry, Mourne, and Down.
“This is about making better use of Council owned assets and identifying opportunities to provide additional training and playing space where it is needed most.
“Our GAA clubs are at the heart of our communities, and Sinn Féin will continue to champion the investment needed to help them grow and thrive.”
