Bangor couple enjoy a stay at The Salthouse in Ballycastle courtesy of Caremark NI
Bangor resident Maurice Owens has had his wish come true for a break away with his wife, Jakki, thanks to a unique 20th anniversary celebration from one of the UKโs leading providers of home care, Caremark.ย
Maurice, who receives regular home care support from the team at Caremark NI, was selected as one of just 20 recipients across the UK to have a personal wish granted through the companyโs Care for a Wish initiative โ a national campaign launched to celebrate Caremarkโs 20th anniversary.
Recent months have seen Maurice, who suffers from Parkinson’s and Dementia, admitted to hospital on numerous occasions due to poor health.
Mauriceโs wish was for the couple to spend a few relaxing days away at the luxury hotel, The Salthouse in Ballycastle, on Irelandโs north coast near the Giantโs Causeway.ย
Commenting on their mini break, which took place earlier this month, Jakki said: โWe still cannot believe how lucky we have been to receive a Caremark Care for a Wish!

“We have been unable to get away for a couple of years now, and this came just at the right time for us both.
“We enjoyed some amazing food at The Salthouse Hotel and were able to take a beautiful walk along the promenade and enjoy the views.
โThank you to Caremark for the generous gift. We are still pinching ourselves! The Caremark team and the care they provide makes such a difference to our everyday life.โย
David Glover, CEO of Caremark, talked about the importance of the Care for a Wish initiative and said: โItโs incredibly humbling to be able to grant these wishes for the people we care for.
“Every single entry we received was meaningful, and the ones weโve been able to fulfil have been especially poignant. These wishes are all about the opportunity for our customers to have moments of joy and connection and create new memories that will be cherished.ย
“โMaking experiences happen for our wonderful customers like Maurice is a complete privilege. It speaks to the very essence of who we are as a home care provider โ committed to enhancing quality of life, not just meeting care needs.
โThis campaign isnโt simply a celebration of 20 years โ itโs a reminder of why we do what we do. Weโre here to support peopleโs wellbeing, dignity and joy as we all believe life is for living, not just existing.โ
