FSB Welcomes UK Government Funding Support

Announcement of a ‘one stop shop’ support service is welcome news and vindication of FSB lobbying

The Federation of Small Businesses NI has responded to the announcement that the Chancellor Rachel Reeves is to confirm £16.6 million of funding in this week in her Budget.

The funding is for the creation of a ‘one stop shop’ support service for SMEs in Northern Ireland and Great Britain to businjesses navigate the Windsor Framework.

Alan Lowry FSB`s NI Chair said: “The Government`s announcement of £16.6 million of funding for a ‘one stop shop’ support service to help businesses navigate the Windsor Framework and reduce bureaucracy is a positive step forwards and is also vindication of months of lobbying by FSB.

“There is still lots more work to be done, but this announcement represents progress.

“It is welcome that Chancellor Rachel Reeves sees this as ‘an absolute priority’ and we look forward to getting more details in the days ahead.

“After FSB published its ‘Windsor Framework Realities’ report in June, where one of our main recommendations was the concept of a ‘one stop shop’ to provide support and guidance to SMEs in Northern Ireland and Great Britain, we undertook an intense period of engagement with Government, politicians from all parties across the UK and officials.

“We said at the time that our Windsor Framework Realities report was a ‘call to action’ and to be fair to the Government they have now acted.

“This will not be a quick fix, but by acknowledging that there is a problem in the first place means that we can work together to address it.”
