Young Deer Euthanised In Donard Park

Young injured deer euthanised by a vet in Donard Park after injury

Officers on routine patrol yesterday evening, Tuesday 11th November, located a seriously injured fawn in the Donard Park area of Newcastle.

A police spokesperson said: “Unfortunately due to the extent of the fawn’s injuries, it was humanely euthanised at the scene by a vet, in accordance with their advice.

“The fawn was left in situ, pending the availability of resources for its disposal – and we have been in contact with the local council concerning this matter.

“We understand this may have been a distressing discovery for those who located the fawn in the area earlier this morning.

“However, please be reassured that we believe nothing untoward happened to the fawn from when it was humanely euthanised yesterday.”
