Saintfield Wins Top Ulster In Bloom Award

Saintfield Greens Team Scoops Best For Large Village Award In Ulster In Bloom

The Greens Team in Saintfield has scooped a top award in the Ulster in Bloom competition.

Saintfield has come first place in the Ulster in Bloom 2025 competition in the Large Village category

A Saintfield Greens Team spokesperson said: “The Greens Team volunteers have worked tirelessly in Saintfield to make it beautiful in preparation for the competition.

Members of the Green team in Saintfield (l-r)eft Lawrence Murphy, Vivien Lovell, and Tommy Price are congratulated by Newry Mourne and Down District Council Chairman, Councillor Philip Campbell.

“This year, the Greens prided themselves on growing a large proportion of their flowers themselves from seeds. They also salvaged a lot of flowers over winter in a poly tunnel and made their own compost.

“A new addition to Saintfield this year was a beautiful Sensory Garden that the Greens created in the Memorial Garden, and it was a showstopper!

Judges noted it as a “real gem” with the attention to detail in the flowers chosen for the garden, making it a wonderful addition to the area for peace and tranquillity.

“All the flowers in the Sensory Garden were grown from seeds by the Green team.

“Many thanks must be given to all the individuals, families, and business owners who have donated and supported the Saintfield Greens over the years – so a great big THANK YOU to them all! This win would not have been possible without their dedication and voluntary efforts.

“Lastly, the biggest thank you of all must go to our Green volunteers. They are the ones who are out in rain, hail, snow or shine and are always committed to making Saintfield look as beautiful as it does.

“Their dedication made this win possible. This win is for them – they are the real winners here!”
