Support The John Magee Fundraiser Night

John Magee calls for help to get his fundraising campaign over the line so he can get necessary stem cell treatment to offset his ongoing disability

John Magee is a well known face around Downpatrick and beyond. But John struggles every day coping with the aftermath of a childhood accident.

When he was five years old a wall fell on him and he was left badly paralysed on his right side.

“My condition is now worsening over the years and before long I could be in a wheelchair. I have a short window to get the necessary stem cell treatment in Switzerland. It is not available in this country.

“It is expensive. It costs £30,000 and I’ve managed with the help of friends to raise £8882 so far but the hard part is ahead of me as I find it more difficult to get around.

“I have lost the use of my right arm and my right leg is badly affected.

“I had physiotherapy when I was younger but it doesn’t help much now. So there is still a glimmer of hope that I can get over the line and raise the funds to go to Switzerland.”

John explained his latest push to find more funding. “I have organised a band night in Owenbeg Bowling Club and Joanne Jarvis will kick off followed by Dirty Little Secrets then Velvet Static take to the stage and rock the night away.

“It is a good mix and the musicians are chipping in to help me and I’m really grateful to them.

Help support John Magee from Downpatrick who needs vital funds to have stem cell treatment for his deteriorating condition. The treatment is not available on the NHS.

‘So everyone is welcome to come along on the night. The entry fee is just £5. But you can make a donation at my Go Fund Me Page: HERE.

“Thanks again to everyone who has helped so far and I hope to see you all the Owenbeg club on:

SATURDAY 27th October: Doors open at 7pm. Bands start at 9pm.
