Man wanted by police in Poland is detained in Newry

Officers from the Police Service of Northern Ireland’s District Support Team in Ardmore made an arrest in the Newry area yesterday evening, Sunday, 10th August.

The 25-year-old man is wanted in Poland in connection with an allegation of armed robbery.

He was detained on a Polish extradition warrant and is due to appear before Laganside Extradition Court on Friday 5th September.

Detective Inspector Lennon from the PSNI’s International Policing Unit said: “We continue to work with our international partners to identify and arrest those wanted in other jurisdictions.

“If fugitives travel to Northern Ireland to avoid the consequences of their previous crimes, it is only a matter of time before they are arrested and brought before the extradition court in Northern Ireland.”
