Come enjoy an afternoon at the Downpatrick races
Summer jumping continues at Downpatrick Racecourse on Monday afternoon with a competitive seven-race offering for punters heading to the track.
The card gets underway at 2.28pm with a mares’ maiden hurdle over the two miles and a furlong trip before coming to a close three hours later at 5.28pm when a field of nine tackle the two kile and seven furlong handicap chase.xa0

Sophia Rose showed some promise in a better contest at Listowel than the one she will line up for in the opener at Downpatrick (2.28) so looks the way to go in the opener on Monday, that fifth of 18 at odds of 22/1 some good form on just her second start over hurdles for trainer Gavin Cromwell.
A two mile and a furlong maiden hurdle is up next at 2.58 and a field of ten are set to take it on. Team Mullins should be strong here, with trainer Willie teaming up with son Patrick on board Full Confession, a point winner that was then successful on bumper debut and built on that to finish second in a novice hurdle at this course 29 days ago so is entitled to improve even further.xa0
A field of 14 will head to post for the 0-100 rated handicap hurdle, race three on the Downpatrick card (3.28). Gavin Cromwell could get a second win of the afternoon with Tell Us This, a respectable fourth of 15 at Listowel last time out and has dropped 3lb in the weights so could go a few spots better.
Ar Nos Na Gaoithe rates the main danger, a Clonmel hurdle winner back in February and a good second over course and distance 29 days ago.

Trainer Gordon Elliott appears to have a strong hand in the two mile and five furlong maiden hurdle (3.58) with Jazz De Cotte, a bumper winner and twice a runner up in maiden hurdles this spring that can put a line through a poor run at Punchestown last time out, while race six (4.28) sees Gorthill get the nod for the Caroline mcCaldin team, back over obstacles after a stint of the Flat at Bellewstown 11 days ago but is pitched into handicaps for the first there and is intriguing.xa0
A field of 11 will take on the two mile and seven furlong beginners chase at 4.58 to mark the penultimate race on the card. Betty Dutton has taken well to fences and this looks a good chance for her to open her account for the Edward O’Grady yard off the back of a good second 13 days ago at Tipperary.
Je Suis was sixth at that track at the same meeting but is back up to a more suitable trip here and rates the main danger.xa0
Finally, the card comes to a close at 5.28 as nine runners head to the start for the 0-100 rated handicap chase. Preference in the finale heads the way of Our Zebo, a winner of a hurdle contest at this track back in may and is over the bigger obstacles this time and looks to be very well handicapped based on his previous form so might take some stopping.xa0
