McAline Sees Red At Racist Graffiti In Millisle

McAlpine condemns sinister graffiti in Millisle

Alliance Ards Peninsula representative, Alderman Lorna McAlpine has condemned racist graffiti which appeared overnight on residential property in Ballymacruise, Millisle.

Alderman McAlpine said: “The cowardly behaviour of those responsible is completely unacceptable and does not represent the local people of Millisle, who wholeheartedly condemn these actions.

Residents in Millisle are seeing red after racist grafitti was painted in walls.

“There is no place in our society for discrimination and intimidation, and I am deeply saddened that only a few days after the homes have been handed over, the area surrounding the apartments has been vandalised.

“Millisle has been a diverse and welcoming place for many generations.

“It is a village that many residents are proud to call their home and are keen to commemorate the role it played in helping Jewish children who needed a home during World War II.

“We must continue to unite and stand against racism and against those who deliberately seek to sow division within our communities.

“This incident has been reported to the PSNI and requests have been made to ensure the graffiti is removed urgently. I urge anyone with any information that could help with investigations to get in contact with the police immediately.”
