Toye Flute Band grant of £1912 is welcomed by Shannon
Strangford MP Jim Shannon has congratulated Toye Flute Band on their continued success and has welcomed the award of a grant of £1912 for new flutes, 15 in total.
Jim Shannon said: “Toye Flute Band are one of the oldest Bands in County Down and have a good number of young people who are keen to learn the flute.xa0

“Alongside the older members who have been there most of their adult lives, they are able to school and assist the younger members who will take over for the years ahead, the band’s future is certainly bright.
“My office helped to secure this grant funding and are hopeful that more can be achieved as we give our young girls and boys an opportunity to learn a musical instrument at no cost to their parents.
“Teaching our children their culture and heritage in a respectful way in doing a good thing and this grant of just over £1900 will enable more young people to see if they have a talent and a love for the music and the camaraderie that the band provides.
“They are a local popular band that is very clearly part of the community so well done and wI wish them every success for the years ahead!”
