Ardglass GAC.
writes Jack O’Shea.
We are hosting a Sports Quiz Fundraiser this Friday at 8pm on 13th June in the Ardglass Arms Hotel.
Match report: Ardglass overcame a challenging away fixture against Glasdrumman, emerging victorious with a 5-8 to 0-15 scoreline last Monday night. Despite facing a strong wind at the Quarter Road, the Ardglass captain opted to play against it in the first-half.
he visitors started energetically but squandered early goal-scoring opportunities as the Glasdrumman defense scrambled to clear the danger on two occasions.
Glasdrumman capitalised, scoring the first two points of the game. Stephen Rooney responded with a point from play in the fifth minute, but Glasdrumman was unlucky not to find the net, hitting the crossbar before tapping the rebound over for a point.

amie McDarby converted his first free of the evening in the seventeenth minute, but Glasdrumman seized control, adding a point from play, a two-pointer, and another free to extend their lead to six points by the twentieth minute.
Ardglass responded immediately with a goal from Caolian O’Shea after a swift counterattack.
The remainder of the first half became scrappy as the wind intensified, with Glasdrumman adding two more points from play and Jamie McDarby converting two further frees, leaving the halftime score at 0-12 to 1-4.
McDarby started the second half as he finished the first, finding the net early on. Glasdrumman responded with a point from a free and another from play, but Ardglass then took firm control of the game. Caolain O’Shea converted a two-point free, followed by a goal from Ciaran Dorrian, who capitalised on a loose ball after pressuring the goalkeeper.
Sean Carr swung over a point to put Ardglass in the lead. In another sweeping move, James Crangle drove at the Glasdrumman defence and fired the ball into the net from thirteen meters out. This was quickly followed by a goal and a point from Jamie McDarby, effectively securing the points for Ardglass. Glasdrumman’s only response in the final ten minutes was a single free as Ardglass defended resolutely, led by Malachy Crangle and Liam Kearney. Corey Mahon, positioned in an unfamiliar half-forward role, proved to be a valuable link between midfield and the forward line throughout the game. (Match Sponsor: Gerard Creggan & Family).

In the first half, Ardglass scored 0-14 from open play and two pointed frees from John Polley, leading 0-16 to 2-1 at halftime.
Ardglass limited St. Michael’s to a single pointed free in the second half while adding 2-8 to their score, with goals from Sean Carr and Caolain O’Shea. David Armstrong marked his return from injury by scoring 0-2 off the bench.

The AAB Amalgamated boys’ teams have been busy in recent weeks, participating in three games. The first was a challenge match against RGU, where both teams opted to rest several regular starters, providing an opportunity to utilise their full squads.
Throughout the hour, RGU’s superior accuracy in front of goal proved decisive, leading them to a narrow one-point victory.

In their second game, ABB traveled west to face Aghaderg in a league match. Despite leading at half-time, ABB struggled with inefficiency in their shooting during the opening period.
Numerous changes were made at the break, but the team’s struggles in front of goal persisted, allowing a determined and energetic Aghaderg team to regain momentum. A series of goals in the final quarter ultimately secured the win for the home side.
Most recently, ABB played away against Bredagh B in Cherryvale. In this match, ABB rediscovered their scoring form, achieving a final score of 7-15 to emerge victorious in south Belfast.
Over the course of these three games, 26 players have gained valuable game time as the squad continues to develop. The team is focused on securing a top position in the league in the coming weeks and preparing for the Championship later in the summer.

Training continues every Monday at 6:30PM at Ardtole, with their next game away to Carryduff tonight.
