NMD Communities Receive National Lottery Funding

Communities across Newry Mourne and Down strengthened through National Lottery fundingxa0xa0xa0

The National Lottery Community Fund has awarded over £170k of funding to organisations in the Newry Mourne and Down area who are bringing people together and improving wellbeing.xa0

One of the organisations receiving funding is Search and Rescue Dog Association (Ireland North). They are using a £20,000 grant to buy an off-road vehicle to help the group to deliver their search and rescue services. 

Search and Rescue Dog Association (Ireland North), said: “The replacement vehicle will ensure we can continue reaching remote and otherwise inaccessible areas in the urgent search for high-risk missing persons, bolstering both our preparedness and effectiveness in times of need.”

Newcastle Glees Musical Societyxa0was also awarded a £5,610 grant to make improvements to Annesley Hall to make it more accessible for community groups to use.

Work will include repairs to the wooden floor, guttering and the provision of an external light, storage and TV monitors.xa0

This funding comes as part of the latest announcement of over £6 million of grants from The National Lottery Community Fund, to provide support and services to local people across Northern Ireland, to improve their lives. 

The Glee Singers in Newcastle received &5610 to make improvements to the Annesley Hall for community groups to use.

Thanks to National Lottery players, £30 million a week is raised for good causes like these across the UK includingxa0Magnet Young Adult Centre, based in Newry, which is using a £6,559 grant over one year to run a support group for young mums aged 16 – 21.

The project will provide opportunities to share experiences, learn from each other and create a peer support network.xa0

  • St Monica’s Boxing Club,xa0
  • Swallows Womens Groupxa0andxa0
  • Wincheslea L.O.L 438 Bryansford.xa0

People across Northern Ireland can apply for grants of between £300 and £20,000 for environmental projects through The National Lottery Awards for All programme.xa0xa0xa0
