The Boss-E juniors head to Athboy for their next IMC round
The Boss-E Juniors headed to Athboy on Bank Holiday Monday for Round 2 of the Irish Minibike Championship, and with rain and heat it made for a slippery day for the track.
At all times throughout the day stewards watched and tried to judge the condition of the track, and advice was given to the riders and parents on if it was safe enough, and the final decision ultimately lay with the rider/parent.
There was no holding back 9-year old Katie Clint #66 from Ballywalter who wanted to get into the action on the track for qualifying. Her mum and dad mum t=gave the thumbs up that it was safe enough for her to go out.
Katie started on P14 getting a slow start off the grid but it wasn’t long before she was pushing her bambam over into the hairpin and down through the middle section trying to make a move.
Eva Mullen, Boss-E organiser, said: Unfortunately for Katie she just couldn’t get the drive out of the corner to hold it but it didn’t stop Katie showing some excellent decisions on track and throughout the day.
“We can see that she is starting to understand fully how to determine when track conditions are safe and when to pace it when they aren’t, achieving herself a P10 Finish in Race 1 and her first ever top 10 finish!
“Overall Katie achieved a very well earned P13 for the day and bagged some more points towards her championship total!
“As a team we couldn’t be any prouder of the riders and what they achieved and for the decision made throughout the day yesterday.”
