SERC Students Enjoy Refreshing Time At Refresher Fair

Students Refresh at Refresher Week Fair

Students at South Eastern Regional College (SERC) got the chance to ‘Refresh’ at the College’s annual Refresher Week Fair this January.

Organised by SERC’s Students’ Union team, the annual event offered students the opportunity to gather information from a range of exhibitors and to find out about volunteering opportunities, all available in the local community.

Danielle Carey, Student Engagement Officer at SERC said: “Our Refresher Week Fairs are firmly established in the College calendar, and we were delighted to welcome so many exhibitors on campus to help our students get the year off to a positive start.

Students at South Eastern Regional College (SERC) got the chance to ‘Refresh’ at the College’s annual Refresher Week Fair at Downpatrick Campus this January. (L – R) Level 3 Technical Diploma in Art and Design students Christina Wilson (19, Downpatrick), Jessica Weir (18, Dundrum), and Holly Watson (19, Downpatrick), and Samaritans representatives John Whitcroft and Heather Hamilton.

“Over 1,300 students took the opportunity to visit one of the Fairs in SERC’s Bangor, Downpatrick, Lisburn or Newtownards’ Campuses.

“We have found that students really value this opportunity to find out about SERC support services and student led clubs and societies on Campus and businesses and services they can access in the community.

Also, they can uncover the variety of volunteering opportunities with a range of organisations which can help students gain experience, broaden social circles, and make connections with the wider community.”

Danielle Carey added: “We would like to thank those busionesses and organises who supported us.

‘These include Pips, The Rainbow Project, Translink, Inspire, North Down YMCA, Domino’s, Danske Bank, PSNI, Samaritans, Volunteer Now, PHA Organ Donation, Mermaids, Action Mental Health, and Extern.

“And the SERC teams too were present from SERC Careers, Enterprise, LRC, Marketing and Student Finance and the Student Governor for supporting the Refresher Week Fairs across our Bangor, Downpatrick, Lisburn and Newtownards Campuses.”
