Gaelic clubs have kept busy over the Christmas period fundraising for charities and keeping fit as they look forward to 2025.

St John’s GAC Christmas Charity Match 2024:
Thank you to everyone who played in the charity game yesterday and donated to a very worthy cause.
Thank you to Alan for organising the match today, it is always a great days craic writes Alannah Megoran.
This year we are raising funds for Friends for Life!
Members Alan and Joanne are joining the charity on a life-changing mission, to support the construction of one, possibly two, essential boreholes.
Their initial goal is to raise £15,000, with an ultimate target of 25,000!!
During their trip, they will conduct CrossFit-based physical education lessons, facilitate the “I Am Girl” workshop, and participate in numerous other projects aimed at improving local living conditions and opportunities!

Congratulations to Aodhan Morgan who was the lucky winner of our Christmas Cash Call 2024!!
St John’s GAC Senior Presentation Night: This year we will celebrate our 2024 football season in the Burrendale Hotel, Newcastle on Saturday 1at February @ 7pm. Tickets – £35 pp, Dress code – Smart.
There will be a 3 course meal served, the presentation, followed by entertainment!
Number of attendees need to be finalised by: Monday 29th January!

Last year we managed 8,337.8km, In 2023 it was 4,162.9km!

NEW YEAR WALKS: Why not make a different kind of resolution this New Year?
Instead of depriving yourself, treat yourself to something that can make you feel better!
Introducing a series of slow and gentle walks in nature designed to promote mental and physical wellbeing. Everyone is welcome.
Try something new, too! The first few of these walks will include an introduction to the art of lino cutting, suitable for complete beginners. After a few walks we will attempt our own lino prints.
Warmly facilitated by Mourne Ranger Carole and our own walk leader Kevin.
All walks end with tea, coffee and homemade bakes included!

Step Challenge for Charity – Kicking Off 1st January!
Bright GAC are thrilled to announce our step challenge, with proceeds going towards MS (Multiple Sclerosis).
Let’s start the new year with movement and motivation for a great cause! writes Cyril McKinney.
Here’s how it works:
• Start Date: 1st January
• Daily Step Target: Announced night before.
• Proof Submission: Submit proof of your steps by 9pm each day.
• Fines: £2 for not meeting the target.
• Entry Fee: £5, payable via PayPal to tmccartan54@gmail.com.
Once payment is received, you’ll be added to a dedicated WhatsApp group.
Feel free to invite & tag friends and family to join in – the more, the merrier!
Spot Prizes: Throughout the challenge, there will be special prize days, such as the first person to hit the target or the biggest step total. If you’d like to donate a prize, let me know!
