Downpatrick Community Radio FM 105 mammoth draw is well supported
Down Community Radio FM 105 received a welcome double boost last Saturday 21at December 2024 when a mammoth draw and a street collection raised a grand total of almost ££2270.
Chairman Gareth McDowell said: “On behalf of all at Down Community Radio FM 105 I would like to thank all those who sponsored prizes and bought tickets.
“I’d like to give a special thank you to Hay’s Tavel in Downpatrick for sponsoring a £500 holiday voucher. We very much appreciate their commitment in supporting our efforts to get the radio back up and running.
“It was a a very encouraging start to our fundraising to restore our local radio which sadly closed down in the summer this year.”
Weather conditions on the say of the street collection were hampered by a cold wind and showers of rain, but Gareth McDowell said that people on the street were “very understanding and supportive.”
Down Community Radio FM 105 still has to pay for its Ofcom licence and other essential fees, but once this is completed, a short radio mast is to be installed to the broadcasting studio at the St Patrick Centre and a test of the signal will see the radio station go live once again.
The supporters and board of DCR FM 105 are very passionate about their radio project and the path of true love never seems to go straight. But they are getting there !
