Double Hat-Tricks For Drumness Mills Sink Bloomfield

Bloomfield were overpowered in the Round 3 clash in the Border Cup against Drumaness Mills

Drumaness Mills welcomed Bloomfield to Meadowvale for this Border Cup 3rdxa0round tie and in the opening quarter of the game neither side threatened to score both being cautious writes Cyril McKinney.

There were great performances from Declan Looney and Stefan Mason who carved up hat-trick’s putting Bloomfield to the sword.

However, as the first half progressed Drumaness began to take control of the game without carving out a clear opportunity to take the lead in scoring.

As half-time approached the pressure eventually saw the home side go in front through right winger Adam Kearney who volleyed home at the back post from a great left wing cross on 42 minutes, a great relief to the home side scoring before the interval.

Then on the whistle at 45 minutes Drumaness doubled their lead through an instinctive finish from forward Declan Looney following good work on the right again from Adam Kearney.

THis two-goal cushion set up Drumaness for an onslaught on Bloomfield in the second half.

Into the second period Drumaness turned up the heat and laid siege toxa0xa0the Bloomfield goal, and before long they went 3-0 up on 57 minutes when a Stefan Mason free kick on the left ended up in the net beating the visiting keeper Carson White at his near post.

The Bloomfield heads seemed to drop and on 75 minutes Mason got his second when he drilled a low shot round the wall from a free kick 20 yards out to make it 4-0.

And on 79 minutes Mason completed his hat-trick when he made a surging run through the middle of the Bloomfield defence and fired home a powerful drive from the edge of the box despite the attention of three defenders.

The home side were 5-0 up and cruising.

Drumaness were relentless on the front foot and the hard working Declan Looney added further goals on 87 and his hat trick goal on 89 minutes to leave the final score 7-0 to the home side.xa0

This was a good show from Drumaness who had great performances throughout the team especially Adam Kearney, Stefan Mason, Declan Looney and Jack Sharvin pulling the strings in midfield.

Bloomfieldxa0xa0struggled throughout and could not match their opposition in any department.
