Lord Elliot Backs British Farming Day At Westminster

Ulster Unionist Party support ‘Back British Farming Day 2024’

As one of his first engagements as Lord Elliott of Ballinamallard, Ulster Unionist MLA for Fermanagh and South Tyrone, Tom Elliott attended the Back British Farming Day at Westminster with colleagues Robin Swann MP and Lord Empey.

Lord Elliott said: “Being involved in the agricultural sector, I am only too aware of how important it is that Britain has a successful farming industry.

“It is a crucial aim that the United Kingdom is self-sufficient in food production and not reliant on foods and trade deals from countries with lower animal welfare standards.

“The industry faces many challenges in the years ahead, with climate change and stringent new environmental regulations. The Government need to be reminded of the key role agriculture businesses play in the delivering of growth for the country.”
