The opening race on the card (2.18) sees ten runners tackle the two mile and one furlong maiden hurdle for horses aged four and older.

The powerhouse combination of trainer Willie Mullins and jockey Paul Townend team up here on Born In Purple, a useful winner on the Flat that went on to finish second of 20 in a Gowran Park contest ten months ago and makes his racecourse return here.

Of his rivals, bumper winner Sharp Object for trainer John McConnell can give the Mullins runner a tough test.

Race two of the afternoon (2.48) is an eight-runner rated hurdle contest over the two mile and one furlong distance around Downpatrick.

The Gavin Cromwell-trained Global Export looks to be the one to beat here, a winner at Navan in May but hasn’t fired since – however, is back in much calmer waters.

The third race on the card is an 80-95 rated hurdle (3.18) and 11 horses will head to the start to take on the extended two mile trip.

The John McConnell-trained Sandyman should be bang up there in this contest, while high-profile trainer Gorden Elliott sends Up And Out to Downpatrick off the back of a good fifth at Cork earlier this week so could be turned out quickly for another spin north of the border.

Eight runners will head to the start for race four on the card (3.48) which is a mares handicap hurdle over the two mile and five furlong trip.

Bella Bliss was fourth of 20 in a Galway contest just over a week ago and is turned out quickly at Downpatrick so makes the shortlist on form, while jockey Rachael Blackmore rides Cobra Queen for Henry de Bromhead, a recent winner of a 15-runner Cork handicap to arrive here in good form.

Race five can go the way of course and distance third last time out Western Ability for trainer David Christie, while the penultimate race on Downpatrick’s Sunday card sees a big field of 15 head to the start for the 80-95 rated handicap hurdle (4.48), and preference here heads the way of Stumblin In, third on handicap debut at Wexford to show vast improvement in her form for trainer Pat Doyle.

Finally, the card comes to a close with the bumper (5.18) and, as usual, it is hard to look away from a Willie Mullins-trained runner in a card closing bumper.

The Closutton handler teams up with son and amateur jockey Patrick on Felix Summus, second on racecourse debut at Killarney on May 15 having gone off a 6/4 favourite and improvement is expected here from the four-year-old.
